Lillakaspunased õied on tihedalt õisikus. Taimel on mündilõhn ja nimi, kuid sellegipoolest on ta sugulased köögis eelistatumad. Õitseb suve teises pooles.Crimson flowers are arranged in dense, spike-like clusters of separate whorls. The whole plant is hairy and smells faintly of mint. Its other relatives are more esteemed in kitchen than wild basil.
